We will show you all the highlights of the New town plus plenty of time to explore on your own the Old Medieval town. This tour is highly-recommended for everybody who is staying in a hotel in the Southern part of the Island – Kolymbia, Afandou, Kalathos, Vlycha, Lindos, Pefkos, Lardos, Kiotari, Genadi and Lachania. We will come and meet you directly at your hotel. The tour can be organized in the morning as well as at the evening hours.
If you are interested you may extend the duration of your tour and also visit the traditional village of Lindos.

Rhodes City Tour + Lindos Village – duration 7 hours
We will start our tour with a scenic drive towards the capital of the island – Rhodes town. Whether your hotel is on the East or West Coast of the island we will follow the coastline and enjoy dramatic views of the sea, picturesque villages and the beautiful landscapes.
Once we reach the town of Rhodes our first stop will be at Mandraki port in the new part of the town where you will see some very impressive monumental buildings built by the Italians. Here at the harbor entrance is believed that once stood the great statue of the Colossus of Rhodes – one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World. We will stop for pictures of the area and you will be able also to enter and see the Church of the Annunciation which is the biggest Orthodox church in the town with very beautiful handmade paintings on the walls and spectacular chandeliers.
The Colossus of Rhodes was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the most ambitious and tallest statue( between 30 to 33 meters high) of the Hellenistic period. The statue was a depiction of the Greek Titan Helios and was meant to celebrate the victory over the Dimitrios the Besieger (ruler of Cyprus) in 305 BC. Bearing a striking resemblance to the Statue of Liberty in the United States, the Colossus of Rhodes stood for no more than 56 years when a strong earthquake destroyed it. In the seventh century A.D., the Arabs conquered Rhodes and broke the remains of the Colossus up into smaller pieces and sold it as scrap metal. Legend says it took 900 camels to carry away the pieces. A sad end for what must have been a majestic work of art.
Now we will continue through the city and see more of the great Italian architecture. We will stop for pictures also at the Northen tip of the island where the Mediterranean and the Aegean seas meet each other. Then we will drive to Monthe Smith Hill where you can enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the city and the seashore, and also visit the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the impressive open-air ancient Stadium and the Amphitheatre.
Our next stop is the Old town of Rhodes which is the biggest inhabited medieval town in Europe where more than 4.000 people are still living inside. The Medieval Town of Rhodes is listed in the World Heritage Sites List of UNESCO with cultural sites with exceptional value and it is protected for the benefit of all Humanity.
We will leave you at the main gate of the Old town so that you will have ample time to explore the Old town on your own. You can visit the museums inside – the Grand Master’s Palace and the Archeological museum and the famous Knights’ street. Maybe have a cup of coffee, do some shopping or simply have an evening walk in this Medieval atmosphere. The Old town is a popular destination in the evening hours when the heat of the day has gone and all the shops and cafes stay open at least till midnight. You will have around 3 hours in total to spend in the Old town and our driver will meet you for the return trip at the exact place he left you.
We will return back to your hotel or we can leave you at any other point of interest
Excellent Faultless Service
I looked at various options as to how to take in the sites in and around Rhodes and am delighted that I choose this option; the service from start to finish was fantastic from the email exchanges with Maria to the driver on the day, Nicholas who was brilliant. We were picked up directly from our hotel in a beautiful top of the range Mercedes in the morning and driven to Rhodes old town, through which our driver was able to drive through as there is some access for cars before 9 o’clock.
Nicholas was very knowledgeable and his English was excellent. After the tour of the old town we then took in various other sites in the Rhodes area before travelling to Lindos via a fantastic shop which sold excellent olive oil, olives etc.
Our tour was a 5 hour tour and we saw more than we had anticipated thanks to the efficiency and knowledge of the driver Nicholas. We arrived back at the hotel by 1.30 and therefore had the rest of the day to enjoy at our leisure. I spoke to others at our hotel who went on a bus tour which took all day to only cover some of the sites that we took in, in 5 hours and although cheaper, there’s was not enjoyable as ours.
I am aware that this company can tailor various tours to your needs and I have no hesitation in recommending this company – although a bit dearer than bus tours it is def worth it.
I can not praise our driver Nicholas high enough and he is an asset to the company and a great Ambassador for Rhodes.
